My review and video’s of Joe at GAY!

So I woke up at 9am on Saturday to get ready for Joe’s performance at GAY, i listened to him presenting Metro radio while getting ready and ended up packing in about 10 minutes and forgot to pack any clothes for today lol.
Waiting for the bus for ages and put on my ipod to play Wide Awake, had it on repeat on the train too, kept randomly singing it, probably looked like a right prat. LOL
Got to Cannon Street and got my map out, and found the apartment I was staying at very easily and took left my stuff in the room. Met up with the ladies from DS, lovely to see them again. We decided to go round to Heaven but there were only a few people there so we stopped off to get something to eat. Rosemary met us in the restuarant.
After eating we went round to the club and there was more of a queue there now. I met up with Jude and she joined us in the queue, we were just chatting, mum started talking to the people behind and embarrassing me as mums do. LOL
Around 5pm they started letting everyone in, we got near the front, well I stood in the second row so very close up. They were playing Wide Awake and Superman was playing as I walked it and I screamed, “Superrmaaaan”.
I was standing there singing and bopping around to the songs, as were a few other people, so obviously some people had got there copies that weekend.
After 3 plays of Wide Awake at 6pm, Joe appeared on stage. I was expecting an introduction and I didn’t even realise he was there until I heard the screams and DSB music start. I scrambled in my bag to get my phone out and the video on, unfortunately I messed that one up and recorded one second of it lol.
Joe then spoke to the crowd a bit saying he was so happy to finally perform the album tracks and it was his first proper gig, then he introduced “Someone Wake Me Up” and said it was his next single, which I am really happy about. It was already one of my favourite songs on the album, but hearing it live was even better. Joe just sounded gorgeous, I love the way he sang the song live, Joe knows just how to work the crowd, even when it is just him and a mic stand, no dancers etc.

Then Joe sang “The Climb” everyone was singing along as obviously it’s one everyone knows, Joe sat on the really close to the audience and was all smiley and waving at everyone. Again brillant vocal performance, you wouldn’t really think he had a cold.

Next the dancers came on and Joe introduced “Until The Stars Run Out” I loved this performance, Joe did bits of dancing, including sitting on Liam for a second lol. I really loved the bits of movement in this performance and the intraction with the dancers. I thought this performance had been recorded, but it didn’t work. Hopefully someone else will upload it.
Joe hit the high notes perfectly and this one got everyone dancing about, even if you didn’t know the song it’s really catchy and fun and I could see how much fun Joe was having performing each song. After this song finished, Joe did a spin which made everyone scream haha.
Lastly, Ambitions, Joe thanked everyone for the support and the song began. Everyone was singing to this one too and Joe did the routine like on Paul O’Grady, loved it. I noticed a few people in the audience doing the dance. LOL
Loved the look at the end, just gorgeous.
Joe McElderry Ambitions
Joe then said, thanks for coming out, see you soon etc. Everyone kind of stood around thinking it was some kind of encore, we had seen Jeremy Joseph tweet about Joe’s acoustic song, so I was convinced Joe hadn’t finished, so we waited, then started chanting Joeeeee. Then we realised the set was over and the security finally started to try and get rid of us.
We were all having so much fun, I think the audience and Joe would have been up for a few more tracks. You can really tell Joe just loves performing, he thrives off the crowd so much, his little eyes light up when people are all cheering and singing along. smile
It was an amazing set and so good to see Joe live again, I crave to hear him sing live lol. I would have liked a few more songs, or at least one instead of The Climb and / or DSB, although both performances were fab.
So we had plenty of time to get ready for the next performance. Ended up back at the apartment watching X Factor and eating pizza.
I was wearing the only high heeled pair of shoes I can actually walk in, but typical me, the songs still fell off when I was getting out of the lift, they got caught the ground. LOL
We got a cab to G-A-Y bar to pick up our wristbands, and nearly shut the door on Josie after she had grabbed the cab, sorry Josie. After getting the wristbands we then got another cab to G-A-Y Heaven, there weren’t many people in the queue in front of us.
Me & Joanne queued up just after Josie and Rosemary and were pretending like we didn’t know them. A guy was coming round to everyone and Josie was speaking quite a bit to him, we wanted to know what he was saying, but kept our distance.
The man then came up to me and Joanne and asked who we were with and we said it was just us, he asked if we had membership cards, we said no and he said sorry ladies you won’t get in, only members tonight, just for tonight only it’s only members, you definately won’t get in. That was two minutes into queuing, so it was kind of like, oh right.
We were standing about with Rosemary and Josie trying to decide what to do. We decided to get out of the queue, get a drink and warn the others and see if they got in.
We watched several people go into the club, the guys all got in no problem, some women were turned away and other women with men were let in, although it only seemed to be the women that were having the search etc, men just went straight in.
So the ladies from DS tried their luck and within about a minute were standing back next to us, from what it sounds like the security were a bit rude to them and said they had already turned them away, which they hadn’t. Clearly have bad memories or see all women as looking the same. rolleyes
Then big jm fan from DS attempted to go in on her own and pretended she had left her membership card at home, guess what, they were not interested and wouldn’t even bother to argue about it, just a plain no.
So there we were huddling around in the cold wondering what to do next. I did think it was unlikely we would all get in, but didn’t expect to be turned away so easily and quickly. There wasn’t even a big queue at this point, so why it was members only is beyond me. Of course they didn’t stick to their own rules anyway, they let you in if they want to and dont’ if they don’t. Or in other words if you were with a gay guy you had a good chance of getting in. Gutted we didn’t find anyone to go in with.
After standing around tweeting and retweeting a million tweets we decided to go back to the apartment. It was Hazel’s birthday so we had to party, either that or drown our sorrows. We tried to get more wine, but the stupid off licence wouldn’t sell us any as it was after 11pm. hmmm
After chatting for hours and watching Josie fall asleep, we put on ITV2 to watch the X Factor and Xtra factor, I kept mouthing off and moaning about each constestant and judges, I apologise for my swearing. LOL I seem to have a reputation of speaking my mind.
Later on, and this is really early hours now I think about 4am or maybe 5am haha, we decided to put the video’s that had been taken that day. It was brillant to sit there and watch them all and pop each other out in the video’s and gush about how much we loved the performance, after watching them a few times we put on Wide Awake, when Superman came on we all sat there in silence and shut our eyes, I felt like crying lol.
Me and Addicted2Tea were chatting as most other people went to have a lie down and a few hours sleep. I decided to stay up as I thought I would be worse if I had to wake up at 9am to get ready and leave for 10.30. At 7.30am Addicted2Tea laid on the floor and said she was going to have a sleep, so I thought, well I cant’ sit hear talking to myself for two hours so went up to my own apartment for a little sleep. Hardly felt worth it but anyways.
Got my head down at 7.45am and my alarm went off at 9am, yay. Althought I didn’t feel to bad.
Had to nip to the other apartment and pick up the glasses and plates we had left there, probably looked a right state although maybe not as bad as carrying bottels of wine and glasses up there the night before, probably looked like a bunch of alchol’s.
I had left my shoes there too, must have walked back to the apartment barefoot, lovely. I was slightly tipsy as I had a few glasses of wine, but not drunk.
I think I looked like a panda this morning, my mascra had made my eyes all black.
Then it was time to check out, we wanted to go for breakfast someone, but nowhere was open. In the end we all just went home and I got a lift. The lack of sleep really started to catch up on me and after a hour or so at home I went to bed and didn’t wake up until Joe tweeted it was nearly time for X Factor, I was surprised to see it was dark outside, only planned to sleep for about 2 hours lol.
So overall, it was a brillant weekend. Lovely to meet up with everyone again and to meet Jude and Roec. It was a brillant performance and it was fab seeing Joe sing live again, especially new tracks. The songs on the album he sang went up in my list of favourites. Worth it for a free gig, although of course I would have paid good money haha.
Disappointed about not getting into the night show and missing the acoustic Telephone, would have loved to see the performance again and the atmosphere when Joe was on, but nothing we can do now.
So for a “free” show, we shared some rather large cab fares, apartment, food and travel it wasnt’ exactly free, but hey, would do it all again in a heartbeat. smile
The end.

Joe McElderry - Until the Stars Run Out (Heaven)
I don't think the night performance was raunchy Paul, I know some people who went in and the set was the same, other then Joe sang an acoustic version of Telephone with guarist Ross.

Aw great review Hayley!
good to see you there.
Joe was just amazing as usual! I love how in live performances he gives eye contact to people and like winks at you and stuff like that. When he does that you really feel the emotion in each of the songs.
I loved it when he was dancing and he did that fast spin as well. Reminded me of Michael Jackson haha.
Just realised I think it's my head in the way of some of your videos haha sorry Hayley, lol!!
