That was exactly my first reaction to the album (which didn't arrive til the Thursday!) too Susie. I felt it was overproduced and I generally love Joe's acoustic versions. Listened a bit more now though and I think it's been well thought out. Hayley is right about Joe needing a younger image but I think it tries to cater for different sides of Joe's fanbase while at the same time not making the album sound like too much of a hotch potch.
I can be fickle aswell but my favourites at the moment are Superman, Until the Stars Run Out and Real Late Starter. I also think Smile is dead cheesy but I love it.

Number 19 in the mid-weeks. No new news on sales on top of last weeks 39,000+ Not too good.

Its a bit disappointing yes, but then again he has already reached No6 and with a new great single it may get higher in the charts again.

Personally I blame it all on his promotion team if you could call them that - Joe had very little support in my opinion.  All that was promised him initially eg going to storm America etc never materialised and without some media backing he won't go far.  Why he has been side-lined I have no idea.  Simon Cowell seems to care little about people once they have left the XFactor whether they win or lose.  Olly's single out first - what was that all about?  Joe should have been put first no matter what, he was the winner of XFactor!

I know many of you won't agree with me, and that's fine, but I still think the over-production on Joe's first album was the killer!! 

Take the example of Susan Boyle - straight in at No.1 with her second album - proof positive of public appeal required!!  The song "Perfect Day" is magnificently produced and appeals to  many people and I am not even a fan of hers but I do think she has a wonderful voice and underneath the persona there is a very caring woman which shows in her performances and song choices.  Apart from this she went down a storm in America and they can't get enough of her.  Pity Simon and the so called Team didn't do the same for Joe.  Hopefully Joe will come into his own when and if he does his Solo Tour!  Fingers crossed

Although I really honestly like the album very much, I know you have a point Susie.

But I think the main problem is that nowadays no one seems to:
a BUY albums.. in stead of illegally download them
b Be able to stay loyal to their idols

Joe's main problem is his agency Im sure. No word from Mr Syco, Simon , no airplay, not much promotion.

and its really unfair.. although without the X Factor Joe's journey to the charts would be even harder, a talented, genuine en lovable guy like him really deserves more. a LOT more.

IM still very proud though, especially seeing the clips of him singing astoningly brilliantly live.
