Article in Daily Star
« on: June 07, 2010, 01:26:29 AM »

There was a article in the Sunday Daily Star, Rehab by James Ingram.

X Factor champ Joe McElderry is to be turned into a Glee-tastic star.

Record bosses have been wondering what do to with Simon Cowell’s latest protege since he won the show last year.

Now Joe, right, is to be given his very own Glee club.

A source let slip: “The idea at the moment is for Joe to front his own High School Musicial/Glee group.

“His management is auditioning for three girls and three boys who can sing and dance.

“The idea is that they would always perform with Joe.

“He would still be the star but not really in the solo sense.”

And that’s how Simon sees it.

I AM ACTUALLY SPITTING FEATHES AT THIS, IT BETTER NOT BE TRUE.  I think I will be writing to Joe’s management and Syco again.   Shocked  Cry  Undecided  Lips sealed

I am going to be e-mailing management and Syco about this, I am sorry but we need answers.  Joe won a recording contract.  FULL STOP!! I am soooo angry right now.

If this is true, I will actually kill Simon Cowell, I am not even joking.  Roll Eyes

IF and that's a very big IF this has ANY truth in this  then Simon Cowell has totally, totally lost it. How can they NOT know what to do with a talent like Joe? It completely makes no sense.  Huh

Couldn't work out why everyone was upset  earlier - hadn't seen this - but now, what I can't understand is how they can give 'recording' contracts to the Grimes & Olly who can't sing but then not know what to do with Joe who CAN sing.

I'm mean, I DO understand the him having his own band and dancers who he works with all the time, that would be brill particularly  for when he does his own gigs etc. but giving it a Glee/HSM slant seems very limiting to me and totally shows up SYCO if that's the best they can come up with.

Rant over...........for now! Sad

I feel the same BlueAngel.  I am not going to have a big rant right now.  I spent several hours doing that last night, I was sooo angry and upset.  I didn't go to bed til 3.15am, woke up at 5am worrying about it.  Undecided Crazy I know.

This is totally the wrong direction to go in, Joe would be crucified in the UK and any career in the US maybe would be over in a couple of years.  I hope Simon has more sense then this.

Had a reply from Vibica Joe's manager I think, I sent this email before the last rumour, but it makes me feel a bit more positive actually.  I replied thanking her for the reply and asking about the Glee/HSM rumour.

Dear Hayley,

I apologise that you feel frustrated.

I don’t make it a habit of mine to manage artists who I do not believe have star potential.  You are preaching to the converted Hayley.

Yes – Olly’s album is being released in August and therefore the recording is well underway.  He has not been in the US.  John Shanks was RUMOURED to be working with Joe but that was never the case.  In my opinion, the more time you work on an album, the better it will be!  October is much better timing for Joe to be releasing an album (think about it – X-Factor!), regardless of when Olly’s is being released.

There’s nothing I can do about Louis Walsh.  And, Simon Cowell works with Joe’s record label, not management.  Feel free to write an email to Syco if you wish.

No one is neglecting Joe.  He is a very busy guy right now.

Do you seriously think that I would not know who Joe’s target market is or how many followers he has on twitter?

Thank you for being a Joe fan – I’m sure he would really appreciated it.

Vibica

Don’t think she likes me very much, I probably ranted too much, but overall I am quite happy with her reply.

Hayley I love you to pieces really  Grin

You are for me the best reason why I like the Joe fans so much... there is nothing you would not do for Joe... I love that! Cheesy

If that article is true, I would actually write to Syco myself too, I have never read something so ridiculous...Such a great talent like Joe is entitled to get the best exposure and best producers and songwriters there are... Cool

Oh my god, I had a feeling there were ideas regarding Glee when Joe mentioned it a couple of times in his tweets and made a point of watching the series a day after some 'exciting meetings'. Maybe he just likes it. I think anything like that described in the article would die a death over here. The letter from Vibica was encouraging though.  Undecided

I agree Sweetie, that style of music is not sucessful here, surely Simon and management would know this.  Smiley  I don't see any logic in this and hope and pray it is not true and a silly rumour.

I don't think Joe would want to be in a band, he is a solo artist.  Comments Simon made on the show and the direction Joe seemed to be heading, with Live Lounge and the way Joe now dresses his age, and casual rather then the little boy suits, points in the total opposite direction as this.  Just doesn't make any sense.  Cheesy

I found Vicibia's e-mail encouraging too, at least she is saying she has faith in Joe.  I also said that Joe appeals to all age group, by her saying you don't have to tell me his market audience, tell me they know Joe's fan base.  Tongue

Well like I said, I am leaving this alone now.  I have had another e-mail from Vib, from my apology e-mail, also asking about the HSM/Glee rumour.  Not an actual answer, but I still quite like her e-mail, even though she does confirm she was angry with me lol.  %-P

Thanks for your email Hayley.

I suppose I too was angry when I wrote the email.

Let’s call it evens!

Please try not to feel frustrated about Joe’s progress.  Hopefully, the wait will make the arrival of the album even sweeter!

Thank you,

Vibica

Just popped in here from over the road.

I'm going to remain positive, and hope the Star article is rubbish.

Joe is so talented they could anything with him.
