British Politics and the Election!

What a spectacle of British politics !
There's something seriously flawed with a system which allows the two political parties with the fewest votes and seats to combine to govern the country, with the smallest of the two dictating the conditions by which this will be achieved. In the past we have laughed at other countries whose elections turned into chaos, political wranglings and corruption, but this is what faces us now.
Typical. Brown can't even resign properly. Has to make it into yet another complicated expensive drawn-out train-wreck for the country.
It will be interesting to see what happens. Brown says he's going “in the next few months” --- this doesn't seem like a definite step-down to me?! If he gave an exact time, could we trust him. Politicians, eh?
While Nick Clegg is seeking some form of 2-party agreement, the arithmetic shows that the new Parliament is not just hung --- but drawn and quartered as well.
What a mess politically, financially and socially this country has now become !

Well I dont know much about british politics, but here in Holland we have had coalition governments since world war 2...we have a "more party" system.
I never liked Mr Gordon Brown, and the fact that he resigned did not come as a surprise to me.. but why wait for months? what is the idea behind that?
And last..the whole world is unstable, financially, politically and indeed socially.. so you are not alone Susie.. but that is not comforting at all...I know...
I focus on the good things in life, its the only way I save myself from becoming depressed, but I must admit it is sometimes hard

I agree it is a mess Susie. I understand what you mean about the minority voted parties but the way the system works now is not representative. Truth is though, I don't know what would be representative AND would also be considered stable.
