Me & Becca's Joe Weekend 26/03/2010

Right so this my version of my Joe weekend in Newcastle. It is going to be a long one lol. Tongue

26/03/2010 - So it took me about 5 hours or so to get to Newcastle. Got chatting to some Geordies on the train, just loved listening to them speak. One women suggested someone visit South Sheilds as the beach is nice, I almost died, couldn't stop smiling. I ended up telling another women that I had spent £500 to come to Newcastle for the X Factor show, I think she was in shock, kept saying how crazy I was LOL. Tongue

So in the cab, again couldn't stop smiling at the geordie accents, saw on a bus North Sheilds and felt the urge to let out a little scream, but resisted as I was in a cab.

I arrived at the hotel at about 3pm and watched some daytime telly while waiting for Becca. Tongue

So Becca was texting me with little updates, e.g. just passed Metro Arena, just passed Newcastle college, coach going down South Sheilds, each time I read a text I screamed a little lol.
Becca came about 7pm, we hung at the hotel until 9ish, then we made our way to the arena. Well actually we got a bit lost, walking around like muppets, going up to several geordies to ask where the arena was. So we finally figured out where the arena was, but couldn't find the backgates. We could hear Sorry seems to be the hardest word, we both started screaming, singing, holding on to each others arms lol. So we decided to follow Joe's voice (as you do), we then found the gates and stood there listening and singing to the rest of Joe's set from outside the arena. We were the only people there so obviously had a good spot. People started coming out of the arena before You are not alone had finished, all trying to stand around us, but clearly me and Becca were not moving for Jesus, and firmly held on to the gates, while freezing our knickers off. We were waiting around for maybe 20 minutes or so after the show had finished, some of the acts started walking past, no-one came up, they were just waving. We saw Afro, Lloyd, Jedward, Olly I think that was about it, maybe the others not sure. Dancers and randomers where walking past, people kept screaming, before saying "oh it is no-one" lol.

Joe had tweeted to say he would meet fans, so we just hoped that we were waiting in the right area, the security guards said Joe would be going round to the other gates, and they didn't want us to be disappointed. But we stood our ground Becca said "It's ok, that's fine" the guard wouldn't give up though, but we refused to move *We shalll not, we shall not be moved* lol. Tongue

So at this point we were getting squashed, by the fans, some of them screaming for Jedward. Then OMG, I saw Joe out of nowhere, people were screaming, I kind of just stood there saying is that Joe, over and over. So he was waving and walking over, then he just started signing autographs, having photos with people. So he comes near me, I shove my camera at him, he took my camera and said "Do you wanna be in the picture", I love the way he says picture in his accent btw, so I kind of stared at him for a few seconds before saying erm yeah, so he took the picture and passed me back the camera, I said thanks. The picture is below, please be aware that the picture is rubbish, you can see a bit of Joe's face, and not really anything of me, not really bothered about me not being in the picture, probably would have only broken it anyways lol, but I wanted Joe to be in the bloody picture. Silly Joe didn't take it right, bless his cotton socks. Roll Eyes

Then he took the birthday book off Becca, obviously Becca will go into more detail with this, but he said "Is this for me" Becca replied shouting yes it is your birthday present, you can't open it till you birthday, to which I rather uneccessarily repeated yes it is for your birthday, I think I just wanted to speak to him tbh, any old excuse. Becca said she was holding on to his hand as she passed over the book, bearing in mind how cold we were he probably couldn't wait to get away. I suddenly had the urge to touch him, I thought for a second, where the hell can I touch him, I kind of reached my hand through the railings, first of all I wanted to touch his hair, kind of reached up a bit, then realised how weird that would actually look, and decided against it, in fear of Joe giving me evils with a WTF facial experssion. Instead I decided to go for a much more reasonable, less weird stalkerish thing .... his arm. So I stroked his arm, rather slowly then kind of pulled at his leather jacket at the end. I then pulled my arm back through the railings thinking to myself, did I actually just do that. Cheesy

Becca had a pic with Joe that turned out rather good, Joe then went up to the other fans, before leaving booo. Cool

Danyl came over quickly to see the fans, me & Becca didn't get a chance to get a pic with him, the tour bus was already leaving so he couldn't stay long. A picture of Danyl running is below.

So then the tour bus went, me & Becca stood there for a few minutes, just thinking that did not just happen. We started walking out of the arena area. We had a bit of a chinwag about it, let out a few screams. I then decided to call my mum, I had promised to update her on anything interesting that happened. As soon as my mum answered, it actually sunk in and I started to scream like the mentalist i am, I went over everything that had happened, screaming uncontrolably at certain points before my mum said to me, "Hayley, I can't understand a word you just said, stop screaming and tell me what has happened". So I had to control myself in order to tell my mum what had happened, Becca was also on the phone to her mum, we were so involved in the convos with our mum's that we walked in the complete wrong direction and could have quite easily got lost again. So then we had to turn around and find our hotel again.

Couldn't stop staring at my rather rubbish photo at the hotel, but felt very happy that I have any kind of picture with Joe tbh, I would have been happy if he walked passed me.

So the next day, the day of the tour, 27th. I was wearing my Joe t-shirt, buttoned up my cardy though, to save any embarrasment. We had breakfast at the hotel, before making our way to the Hilton, as we had been told that was were they were staying. There were a few other fans there, with there banners, some very nice I love Joe McElderry hoodies and some Jedward fans. The weedy little Hilton guy was telling everyone to keep on the other side of the road, everytime people walked closer to the entrance, he told us all to move. Then Lucie came out and everyone ran over, somehow the "Hilton security" guys seemed to pretty much disappear. Me & Becca kind of hovered around her, Becca was trying to ask for a picture but never actually got one, I took a couple of her with someone else, the link is below.

So just before Lucie was leaving, I thought I noticed Joe going round the revolving doors, then I wasn't sure as there was a tall man in front of him, I started nugding Becca is that Joe, we started to move nearer to the door, he walked a few steps, before the little monkey that is Joe McElderry ran straight into a waiting cab. People starting running up to the cab shouting in thick geordie accents, is that Joe, Becca said yes it is Joe. We don't think people believed us until he actually turned around and waved out of the window, saddo that I am took a few pictures of the back of Joe's head in a car. The pictures are below.

Joe went off in the cab, and me & Becca were waiting for the other finalists to come out. The silly little Hilton man, was shooing us away to the other side of the road, we waited for a while until the finalists started getting on the tour bus, none of the were allowed to come up to us. As soon as Jedward appeared everyone ran towards them, the silly men gave up a little as they would have been trampled on by the Jedward fans, if they had put up a fight. Kiss

I did take some pictures of the finalists on the bus and of the coach, as well as the Hilton Hotel, I had to delete these though as I had no memory, stupid camera only holds about 10 photos without a memory card. Roll Eyes

So after the bus left, me & Becca made our way back to the Hotel. So soon enough it was SHOWTIME, as they say in the biz that is show. We didn't need to que to get into the arena, we got through very quickly, my printed tickets worked *phew*. Me & Becca bought a diet coke to feed our addiction, first diet coke in over a day, I was starting to get withdrawal systoms. So the seats where block A, numbers 45, 46. We walked into the arena, the first thing I noticed was how small it was compared to the M-A-S-S-I-V-E 02 Arena. Me & Becca pottered around looking for our seats when a lady came up to help us, she said "well you are not near the back that is for sure", ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGG me and Becca were getting very excited. She then said, tell me when to stop, and I said, you can stop on the front row then love, the more we walked the more excited I felt. We got to our seats which was 7th row from the front, I could have popped right there and then. So went to our seats, waiting for the show to start. I saw the top 10 auditons from 10 - 6 which I had missed at the 02 shows. I decided to undo my cardy, wooohooo I am a Joe fan people deal with it. I then didn't do it back up for the rest of the day.

Then "Newcastle are you ready", right you know the drill by now, me & Becca already had started screaming, good to get in there early. Tried to take some pics, I have put a link to them below. Obviously started screaming when Joe popped up from the stage.

So the first song started, me & Becca where up dancing, the people behind where complaining, and where telling us to sit down, so we did.

I am not going to say much about the performances, I have already done that review and so have many other people. I just like to say however, Lloyd and Lucie had improved since the 02. Jedward flew over us. Roll Eyes

So time kind of flew byish, (you know when you are having fun and all), soon enough it was the interval. They chucked buckets of this stringy stuff on us, I literally had to rip it to break free. Me and Becca spoke to Helen from the Official forum in the break. The interval went really quick and soon the show was started again.

Just have to point out, I still think Stacey in Queen of the Night looked uncomfortable, all of the other performances where the same. Again enjoyed Danyl's me & Becca was up dancing, I even stayed on my feet for Olly's performance, still making it clear I wasn't there for him, missed the bum wiggle again, (thank god). Becca noticed his rather out of control, bush of a chest rug. Huh

yuk.

So yay time for Joe. Got all emotional again in the journey bit, starting screaming. Joe pops up, so I was screaming, singing, jigging about the place, obviously refusing to sit down. The screaming was really loud when Joe appeared. Everyone at least on the floor section was standing up, apart from the misery guts geezer sitting next to me, (I bet he loved us two lol). I was a little worried about Joe's voice as he had a sore throat, but I didn't need to worry, he sung note perfect as usual. Wink

Loved all the performances was clapping and screaming like a lunatic, singing rather badly along with Joe's perfect angel voice. Obviously again was clapping in LS to Mr. McElderry's request. Tongue

At the bit Joe says his thank you's to the crowd, he said if it wasn't for all you geordies I wouldn't be standing here right now, to which I screamed my head off, Becca "reminded me" we are not geordie's, to which i replied nah I am Londoner lol. I was quite surprised that most people didn't actually sit down in the slower songs, like they did at the 02. One rather quite moment I shouted "I love you Joe" quite loudly not sure if he noticed, but I hung my head in shame, and leaned my head on Becca's shoulder. LOL. Pictures below.

So all the performances were brillant, then it was only the Climb left. Sad

Just like the previous shows, it went far to quick, and soon enough, it was "You are not Alone" again I screamed when Joe's audition picture came on the screen, then again when Joe came back on stage.

The ticker tape came down, quite frankly getting in the way of my very out of tune, cat being stragled voice. Becca said she started choking on it, so clearly it is a health hazzard, but it adds to the atmosphere. So end of the show, already at this point, I thought oh well it is all over now. We went to the back of the arena to see if any of the contentasts came out, waited around for bit, but none of them came, so we went back to the hotel for a bit.

We watched a bit of telly, don't know if anyone saw the Dorothy thingy on BBC1 but some girls sung Love Story, huh they have nothing on little Joey, so me & Becca sung Joe's version over theirs lol. Tongue

It wasn't long until we made our way back to the arena to listen to the show from outside. We couldn't hear it clearly from further away, like we had the previous night, then we realised it was Danyl so clearly was running quite late. Obviously stacey, then Olly came on. I couldn't hear them as clearly as I could hear Joe when he came on. Then a man rudely turned on the engine for a truck that wasn't moving, like if you are not going to turn it off for the sake of two girls trying to sing along to Joe McElderry, then you could at least think about Global Warming, perhaphs he was trying to drown out my awful voice, don't really blame him tbh. Huh

Could hear the songs in between a bit, but not as great as we would have done, if the selfish man, had turned off the engine.

The engine was turned off when "The Climb" came on, thank god. Then it was You are not alone again. People started running out to stand by the gates, just like the day before, me and Becca nabbed our spots and were not going to budge unless asked by Joe himself. Tongue

About 5 minutes after the show finished, Lloyd, Afro, Jeders, and the others I guess, all walked past, I think I noticed Joe walk past and wave. Sad

Obviously not coming to the fans this day, but the show had finished late, and Joe probably wanted to be with family and friends, which is fair enough. Grin

So me & Becca trotted off back to the hotel, a girl and her mum where playing the climb in their car, with the windows down, so I did a bit of singing and swaying in the street. Tongue

Then went back to the hotel.

So 28/03/2010 home time. We got up for breakie early, to go to the Hilton and try and meet Joe, we were in the lobby with another Joe fan, unfortunately Joe never came. Becca had to leave earlier then me, so I stayed awhile to see if Joe showed his face. Grin

So checked out and made my way to the station for my train. I slept basically the whole way back on the train, I felt sad to be leaving geordieland, and it just hit me that it was all over, well for me anyways. After about 5 or so hours travelling, I finally got home. Sad

So after that ridiculously long review, I spent around £500 to go to Newcastle, but it was worth every penny, I had brillant seats in Joe's home town, got a particulary rubbish picture with Joe, and let's not forgot people I stroked his arm. So all in all deffo worth it, would go again in a heartbeat, if I wasn't being chased by loan sharks (JOKES). Seriously though, completly broke, but happy. It was also nice to meet such a big fan of Joe's in the shape of Becca.

Hopefully one day I will get to speak to Joe, maybe if I am lucky touch his hair lol. Really looking forward to the solo tour now, and or any other promotions Joe may do in the lead up to the album etc, will be really nice to meet some of you and see Joe perform. I think I may start saving for the solo tour now, so that I am able to pratically stalk him for the duration. Tongue
