Right, as promised, here is my tour review:
Well firstly, I must say that I enjoyed the tour so much, that I have managed to persuade my parents to let me go again in Glasgow on 3rd April, and I have tickets in the 8th row from the stage
so I am really looking forward to that
but anyway, back to Newcastle, I went to the tour with my dad and I got a bit of I surprise when we were given our tickets on the coach, because they were in a different block to that advertised on the coach company's website. But they turned out to be better seats anyway so I was extremely pleased with that.
When we arrived at the arena we were presented with a whole row of security guards and we had to throw away any food or drink before we were allowed inside which was a bit annoying seeing as the only reason for this is so that you have to buy drinks inside and spend more money
but anyway when we got inside, obviously all of the merchandise was there and I was so excited. The main foyer of the arena seemed huge and it was all much bigger than I thought it would be. I bought the tour programme, a T-shirt and a few other things, but I couldn't really buy much because the merchandise was not exactly cheap
lol.
We went and sat down in our seats at about 7pm and already I was overwhelmed with excitement. The arena which I thought would be tiny, was absolutely huge, and the stage was enormous aswell, and I had a good view of it from where we were sitting.
Some of the worst auditions ever from X factor were played to keep the audience entertained before the show started, and as more people entered the arena, the atmosphere became more and more intense. I couldn't wait for the show to start, and when the lights were dimmed, everyone was screaming so loudly that you literally could not hear the person next to you. Then the host, Jeff Brazier, came on stage and everyone started screaming again. I don't think my dad enjoyed all the screaming, but for me it added to the atmosphere and made the night even more memorable.
Anyway, the show was soon underway and here are my reviews of the night's performances:
Jamie Archer - Sex on fire and Hurt:
Well I have to say that I was very impressed with Jamie's performances and he certainly got the crowd going with 'Sex on Fire'. Everyone was singing along and really enjoying themselves, and his vocals were very good, although they tended to be drowned out a bit by the live band. There was also some impressive dancers and choreography and special effects. His performance of Hurt was much more about the vocal though, and I think he made an extremely good job of the song. I could really feel the emotion in his voice, and as there was less backing, his voice really shone through. Overall I think he was one of the best on the night, and his afro was as big as ever
lol
Danyl Johnson - Purple Rain, Man in the Mirror, and With a little help from my friends: Well, I wasn't a fan of Danyl at all during X factor as I found his out of tune howling rather annoying, although I have to say that he also impressed me on the tour. Most of his tuning issues seemed to have been resolved and he gave a superb rendition of 'Purple Rain', which I thought was much more powerful than when he sang it on X factor. 'Man in the mirror' was again very good and he certainly did the song justice. He seemed to have got his confidence back, which was definitely a good thing, as it meant his performances were far from subdued. When he sang 'With a little help from my friends' he seemed really energetic and was really bouncing around the stage like he did on his first audition. I also think the little piano solo that he did at the start was a nice touch. He sang the song with Olly and Jamie aswell and it was good to see the interaction between them, although I think Danyl would have done better on his own as the song suits him the best.
Lloyd Daniels - Cry me ariver and Stand by me/beautiful girls:
Well clearly Lloyd was not one of the strongest singers in the competition, although I think he had improved somewhat since X factor. I still think he is rather mediocre though and his performances didn't really do anything for me. He went down well with the girls though, so there was a lot of screaming when he came on, so at least some people liked him more than I did
Lucie Jones - Sweet child o mine and This is me:
Well I really thought that Lucie was very good on X factor, but she dissapointed me on the tour. Her vocals were not particularly impressive or powerful, and the shrill squeakiness of her voice was rather annoying. She also looked slightly uncomfortable on the little stage with the wind blowing through her hair, and overall I thought that her performances were pretty forgetable. She looked rather stunning though, so maybe modelling is the best option for her
Jedward - Under pressure/Ice ice baby, Rock DJ and Ghostbusters:
They were the act that I was least looking forward to, but I did enjoy their performances slightly more than I thought. I thought the vocals in 'Under pressure' were not too bad, and the energetic dance routines in their other songs were rather impressive. Obviously they had lots of special effects and flew above the audience doing some sort of weird and awful acrobatics, but it was certainly entertaining. The big infltable snowman/ghost thingy (whatever it was) was quite impressive too, although it is clear that they are a not serious singers. 'Rock DJ' was mostly shouting. They went down very well with the audience though, although I accidently let out a rather loud 'booo' after their first performance, but I think no-one noticed
lol
Stacey Solomon - The scientist, What a wonderful world, Who wants to live forever and Queen of the night:
As expected, I was really impressed by Stacey and was amazed by her performances. 'Who wants to live forever' was an amazing vocal and was just as powerful as when she sang it on X factor. Her rendition of 'The scientist' almost brought me to tears as it was so emotional and vocally perfect. I think the song really suits her. 'What a wonderful world' was good aswell, although it was ruined somewhat by Lucie's ear piercing voice, and it was clear that Stacey is far superior to her as a singer. I did not like 'Queen of the night' as much because I thought the vocal was a bit subdued and was affected by her having to some weird provocative dancing around a pole, which I didn't really think was necerssary. she looked uncomfortable during that performance. However, overall she blew me away with her effortlessly perfrect vocals in her other performances.
Olly Murs - Superstition, Fool in love, twist and shout:
Clearly Olly is a very good showman and he certainly managed to get the audience dancing along with him. I find his quirky moves rather amusing and he certainly entertained everyone. Vocally he is not the best, although he sang in tune and gave reasonable renditions of all the songs he performed. As an all round performer I thought he was very good.
JOE MCELDERRY - DON'T STOP BELIEVING, LOVE STORY, SORRY SEEMS TO BE, DON'T LET THE SUN, THE CLIMB:
This was the moment I had been waiting for all night. When Joe came onstage the crowd went mental. Everyone was screaming twice as loud as before. I could feel it tearing my eardrums apart but I didn't care. My heart was pounding and I was just as excited as everyone else. When he started singing, I couldn't stop myself from singing along. No-one would hear me anyway, as nearly everyone else was doing the same. I was so overwhelmed by the fact that he was actually there, that I have forgotten what his first performance was like. I seem to recall it was pretty much perfect though. 'Love story' was excellent and I really liked his version of the song. He seemed so confident and was moving around the stage. It was so good to see that. 'Sorry seems to be' was a really emotional performance and his vocals were flawless. He sang the song so effortlessly, and really his vocal ability is far superior to all of the other contestants. I could certainly see why he won. His voice was so pure and pwerful and you could really feel the emotion. His other performances were out of this world aswell, and everyone was singing along to 'The climb'. I was singing so loud that my throat hurt, but not even my dad could hear me as the noise from the crowd was so overpowering. Joe sang the song perfectly and again I felt really emotional. I think you could see that Joe was really emotional too and that just added to the moment. 'Don't let the sun' was excellent aswell and it was good that he did a longer version than when he was on X factor. I was just stunned by all of his performances to be honest. I still couldn't believe that he was actually there on stage in front of me. Everyone was so on a high when they did the group song at the end (you are not alone), and everyone was once again singing along. when Joe appeared to do his part, the crowd went wild once more, but I was beginning to get upset that this would soon be all over.
There was of course, a little surprise at the end, when Jeff presented Joe with his platinum award. You could tell that Joe was genuinely shocked, and everyone was cheering and screaming. It was really a surreal moment. When Joe said that he could not have done it without the support of everyone who was in the audience, I felt so emotional again, and it was so amazing, and Joe was just so sweet and modest as always. It was truly a night of my life that I would never forget
Joe also dedicated one of his performances to everyone in the audience, although I can't remember which one it was.
Anyway, I am so glad to be going to the tour again, and I really had an amazing time
my fingers really hurt now after all of that typing though
but it was definitely worth it, and when I was writing this review it felt like I was re-living the night all over again.

AJ - a perfectly wonderful Review. Thank you for taking the time to write in such depth
Those of you who were there obviously had the additional excitement too of Joe being presented with his most coveted award to date. Sublime I have to say . . . .
