Joe's Biography to date : 24 02 2010
I thought I would post this for new and regular members alike. It's a full documentation of Joe's history/journey so far.
Joe McElderry - Early Days
Joe McElderry was born in South Shields, Tyneside, England on 16th June 1991.
After attending Harlton Technology College, he joined South Tyneside College and then Newcastle College where he studied performing arts. Joe was backed by them to win the X Factor.
Many people don’t actually realise that Joe McElderry had auditioned previously for the X Factor in 2007, however felt very young in comparison to the other contestants, so much so that he decided to walk away from the competition at that time.
In his audition in Manchester Joe McElderry sang “Dance with My Father”, by the late Luther Vandross. He then travelled to Morocco with his mentor Cheryl Cole, where she and Will Young chose him as one of the final three to continue on to the live shows.
Joe chose the same song in the X Factor final as he did for his initial audition, Luther Vandross’s “Dance With My Father” .
The second song was “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”, which he sang alongside George Michael.
Joe chose “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word” as his third song, and sang it note perfect.
Joe McElderry won the public vote along with Olly Murs, to reach the final two of the X Factor Finals.
Stacey Solomon gave one of her best performances, but still didn’t make the cut for the final.
Joe and Olly both performed “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus in the final show of the X Factor.
Joe McElderry eventually won the series with almost faultless vocals throughout the final shows and clinched the coveted £1 million recording contract.
Joe McElderry’s first CD ” The Climb” was released after becoming the sixth winner of the X Factor 2009.
The 18 year old performing arts student from South Shields new single “The Climb” certainly is apt, as he definately climbed his way to the to the winning position on the show.
Joe McElderry can currently be seen in the X Factor Live Tour, along with Lloyd Daniels, Jamie Archer, Olly Murs, Danyl Johnson, Lucie Jones, Stacey Solomon, and John & Edward.
In the X Factor live Tour shows the acts are performing classics, songs from the show and their charity cover of Michael Jackson’s ‘You Are Not Alone’.
X Factor 2009 : History
Manchester was where Joe first auditioned for the X Factor, singing "Dance with my Father" by the late Luther Vandross.
He performed faultlessly and secured his position to "Bootcamp".
Joe was chosen as one of the final three in Cheryl Cole's group whilst in Morocco, after she and Will Young decided he was to be included in the live shows.

Joe McElderry "honoured" to sing on Haiti Charity Single
Joe McElderry has said how he was 'honoured' to lend vocals to the Haiti Charity Single.
He was directly contacted by Simon Cowell's team and invited to join a host of stars for what was expected to be a huge seller on download and in the shops.
Joe joined fellow X Factor stars, Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and JLS on the song as well as legends Rod Stewart, Bon Jovi, Mariah Carey, Michael Buble and many more.
Joe McElderry became the Sixth X Factor Winner
Simon Cowell's X Factor final was watched by more than 19 million people as Olly Murs and Joe McElderry battled for the title, proving that yet again he has created a winning formula with the top rated series.
In a sign of the show's ability to attract some of the world's top performers, Sir Paul McCartney appeared on the final show singing "Drive My Car" alongside Joe McElderry, Olly Murs and the 10 other finalists.
Simon was joined on the judges panel by Cheryl Cole, Danni Minogue and Louis Walsh, but it was Cheryl who reigned victorious for the second consecutive year, after the last of her group Joe McElderry, went on to claim victory becoming the XFactor Winner 2009.
