So Simon has signed up Olly. I thought that he said he would not signed with anyone but Joe because he wanted to focus on him.
I wonder why he's changed his mind  .

I'm sure Simon himself hasn't actually signed him. It's not like there's been any hype about him on the tour, like all this talk about Jedward, so I don't know why he's been signed. But good luck to him anyway, I won't be buying the album, but that's just me lol.

Simon probably sees an oppurtunity to make more money, so he will go for it if he thinks he has time to work with them both. I don't think he has doubts about Joe, because he has always said how good Joe is. I just think he was probably fond of Olly too and knows he was popular. and also, it is a joint deal between Simon's company and epic records, which does suggest that it will not be just Simon who is involved with the recording of his album, and I think the reason Simon will have done that is so that he still has more time to focus on Joe.

I'm the same, I like the guy but I won't be going out to buy his album. Its a bit out of the blue to say that rumours were simon had cut all ties with olly. I don't agree with the rumour its because simon thinks that joe is not going to do good. You just need to look at the response joe has from the crowds on the tour. He's massively loved by lots of people. Simon or his label have probably signed olly up so that any other record labels cannot sign him. After the tour its highly likely that olly is going to have a pretty substantial fan base and that means lots of money making opportunities. The same goes for joe! ;D

I agree with Becca, there has been no major hype about Olly on the tour and I thought no other the artists were getting signed.

It is a bit annoying that Olly has already started work on his album and Joe hasn't yet.  I really hope Simon concentrates on Joe and gives him the brillant songs he deserves.

As it says that Olly is signed with Epic records and also what Marcus has pointed out, I don't how involved Simon is with Epic Records.  Simon did say that it would only be the winner who was signed up this year, and it makes me wonder if it was the other way round, would Simon have signed up Joe.

well in the article from the sun, it clearly says that it is a joint deal between Syco and epic records, but I wouldn't like to say whether this or what it says on DS is right. obviously one is wrong. Also, Epic are linked to Syco because they both come under the Sony BMG umbrella but they are separate companies in their own right. ( i think. I really don't know how it works. lol.

Also, I forgot to say before, I won't be buying Olly's album

The X Factor's Olly signs two record deals
Olly Murs has signed two record deals and is already working on his first album. The Essex star, who came second to Joe McElderry in The X Factor last year, has signed to Simon Cowell's label Syco and Epic - the same label that look after JLS. Epic boss Nick Raphael has promised a "big record" to show off Olly's "obvious talents". That sounds a bit rude...or maybe it's just us

There is a discussion about this in the General section too.  I will say again, I will not be buying his album.  Apparently Epic have said Olly ticks all the boxes to be a popstar, except he lacks one vital thing; an amazing voice, maybe a fantastic vocal is not always required in today's chart music, but I certainly am not interested in daddy dancer Olly's average voice and weird dance moves.  I hope he does not do well.  Sorry I am being a bitch.  Joe was the star of X factor 2009 and I think Simon should concentrate on him.

I couldn't see what the fascination was with Olly on the X Factor. I mean, in the week he was in the bottom two he got fewer votes than John and Edward! So he couldn't have been that popular. And that was proved when he only got 39% of the overall final vote, while Joe got 61%! I won't be buying his single or album, and I highly doubt he's going to do a JLS and be more successful than Joe.

I bloodly hope he don't do a JLS Becca.  I agree, Olly was overhyped by the media, he never won one of the shows, and would have gone in week 7.

Totally agree it's all visual with him. If you close your eyes and just listen to his voice, he's average at best!  According to this report he won't release his album until after Joe's released his.

Thanks for that BlueAngel51, I hope it is true.  I don't want everyone saying oh Olly has released his album what has happened to Joe.
