True, but in the holiday season strange things can happen in the charts. Many years there has been hardly any movement at all at Christmas. Then during Jan a lot of the top ones fall like a stone.

ratm have gone from 2 to 40! I was LOLing so hard! They haven;t proved a point because just as quickly as it entered the 'pop' chart, it crawled away again!

They didn't really prove anything, other than that there are a lot of people with money to waste on buying music that they probably don't even like.
They say that the campaign was aimed at Simon Cowell, but it has only ended up making him more money, so he will probably be pleased about the whole thing.
They say that the purpose of the campaign was to try and stop X factor's stranglehold on the christmas no.1 spot, but I can't see how having the christmas no.1 being dictated by a facebook group is any different. If anything its worse.

I don't really agree that RATM proved the point; the Xmas number one is supposed to  remind people  of  a particular christmas cos you hear it so much, it's played at all the parties etc.  So they could have 'proved a point 'if they'd chosen a track people actually wanted to listen to or was even remotly chrismassy as opposed to a track to download to stop Joe getting to No1.  In the  future when I hear The Climb it will remind me of Christmas 2009 and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

yeah. I agree. They could have at least picked something christmassy! And if they were trying to get at Simon Cowell they shouldn't have picked a track by a group that are signed to a record label that he makes money from.
