The Editor of Bizarre in the sun,
« on: December 31, 2009, 04:41:45 AM »

I dont think he likes Joe!

Theres all the rage stuff, throwing darts at rage pictures etc, then theres little Joe and wee Joe and its downhill for Joe and now... hes compared him to Steve Brookstein and saying people have wrote him off. Then weirdly he says he will bounceback and be a better pop star!

If i were Joe i wouldnt talk to the Sun for a bit they seem to be putting him down and getting him in trouble. They once said "It was the Sun wot won it" after the way they stirred up the Rage Campaigners by getting Joe to do some less than sensible things on video.. they should now say "It was the Sun wot lost it" when it comes to Joes Xmas Number 1. Forget hes sold 700,000 hits competed against RAGE and now the Lady Gaga show, they just have a sneaky little dig at Joe. Why do people knock people down in this country or try to score points or have snidey little digs at succesful nice people?

I have never really liked the Guy who edits Bizzare, lets face it how many number 1s has he had? I hope Simon doesnt invite the guy on the Xtra Factor next year if all he is going to do is try and belittle the winning act.

Not living in the UK - I probably shouldn't comment as this is something I hadn't read about in any news.   I don't fully understand your post,  but I can understand your frustration over a presumed wrong done to someone you admire.

Joe will run into this kind of thing all the time.  He has to be a little gullible given his young age and sheltered life and will probably run into "stuff" at the beginning as the world is full of very strange people, he is gonna meet some doozies in the world of show business and the media.  But if he is as grounded as he says he is - hopefully Joe will take it all in his stride.

We can't fight his battles for him - he and his carers will have to do that.  And just because Joe won the X Factor - does not mean everyone has to love him like we do.

The guy at the Sun is just doing his job trying to sell newspapers with any kind of headline and sensationalism.  It's what journalists!  Before you get your knickers in a worse knot - my observation after finally reading the article - is I think there's a lot of truth to what he says.  Yes - Joe's young skin probably is a lot thicker for the whole experience, and yes - they probably should be grooming him for something classier than tracks like The Climb.  The next Buble?  He could do a lot worse.  While I kinda agree with the last part of that "article"..... the Sun ain't exactly yer classy daily newspaper now is it!  (All I can remember of the Sun when I was not even of school age was that there was always a naked lady on page 3!) So I'd recommend taking the whole thing with a pinch of salt.

Don't let us be negative over one stupid article - the only way to help Joe is to stay positive.  Joe will be fine.

Sad eurgh the sun actually do my head in, i was especially annoyed at there article about 'joe blasting RATM' and having him do that ridiculous pose with the dart board. But i think this editor is actually alright he seems to sometimes back Joe and not blame him. I have to agree with Joe staying out of the suns way though. When Joe visited them to edit there bizarre column they did him absolutly NO FAVOURS!!

Hmm this is typical tabloid journalism, I wouldn't worry unduly.  Gordon Smart has actually claimed to like Joe, and the article is not entirely negative, more a case of creating a story when really there isn't much of one in the first place.

The article is actually quite dismissive of Lady Gaga and completely ignores the fact that she is arguably the biggest popstar in the world right now.  Joe loosing number 1 to a women who has 2 of the top 5 best selling singles of the year is hardly shameful.  Of course where it not for the RATM campaign Joe would have had 2wks at number one, and his total sales are actually higher over the same period  than some of the acts who were number one for longer.

Nontheless, being at number 1 for just 1 wk was always going to add fuel to the fire of the cynics and snipers in the media and elsewhere.  Gordon Smart is just positioning himself in relation to this, attacking the choice of single more than Joe himself.  If Joe can handle the Sun well, he will actually have a potential ally in Gordon I think, but ultimately a tabloid journalist is always going to put a good story above the truth.  Joe's a clever lad, as long as he labels the Sun: "Handle with caution" , he should be fine.

There will undoubtably be others who continue to make unkind comments about Joe and his potential for a sustained career.  I'm confident that Joe's talent, intellect and work ethic will ensure that it's these critics who will find themselves forgotten long before he is.

Continue to send Joe your positivity and support, and let's all look forward to him proving his detractors wrong in the new year.  Happy New year all x

They are always going to want to create trouble and stir things up a bit, because people find it interesting and will want to read about it. Hopefully Joe will learn from recent events and not let them, or any other newspapers, take advantage of him again. However, stories are always going to be written about him, and unfortunatly it is interesting stories that sell more papers. I don't think that there's much to worry about though, as I don't think anyone will change their view on Joe just because of something that has been written in The Sun. If anything, it could be a good thing as it gets him more publicity, and the article doesn't seem totally negative anyway.

There's always going to be negative headlines. But it's up to us to ignore them and concentrate on the good things! Joe has lots of people who love him. There isn't a single pop star in the world who everybody loves. It would be strange and boring if they was!

Gordon Smart has always had an acid tongue  Angry  He had a lot to say about Rhydian at one time but it didn't stop Rhyd doing very well thank you  Grin so I am sure Joe's future career will not be blighted by his stupid comments either.  He has a right to his views but they always seem to incite controversy.    Lips sealed

He likes to create something out of nothing. I remember last week he wrote Cheryl's single had absolutely tanked, when it was sitting at #4!! Pretty ironic considering this week she looks set to have two singles in the top ten. Lets see him write about that.

I agree. I saw him on Xtra factor once and i got the impression that he likes to say things that cause controversy and unrest. I think most people can see what he is doing and will not be take his comments seriously, so i'm pretty sure Joe's career will not be damaged by Gordon's point of view.

Yeah plus on the final Xtra Factor Holly mentioned that he had been supporting Joe, but he said he'll be controversial and tip Olly for the win.

Yeah. I hated it when he said that. It was obvious he was just switching sides just to stir things up a bit.
